Alfonso Arturo Borboa Rubio

My name is Alfonso Arturo Borboa Rubio; I was born in July 26th 1967 in Mazatlan Sinaloa Mexico. I’m the elder of three children, Dilia (30) and Carlos (34) are my youngest brothers.  I grew up in different cities within Mexico (Ensenada, Mexicali and of course Mazatlan) because my father was working at the Mexican Army and we moved from city to city every time he was transferred to a new one.  I have been living in Monterrey since 1977.

At the beginning of  my professional career I thought that my area of interest was tourism (I really love traveling); however, I decided to study a business bachelor degree at the University Autonoma of  Nuevo Leon and graduated in December 1988.

Since 1989 I have been working in five different companies: Control Corporation, Seguros Monterrey New York Life (Insurance Company), Vitro Group (www.vitro.com), and IMSA Group (www.imsa.com).  In all of them I have been part of the corporative offices, mainly in human resources areas like training and recruiting.  For the last three years I have been working at Domos Group (www.grupodomos.com) with the position of Human Resources Manager.  My main responsibility is to recruit executives for key positions in the company, and to develop a potential plan for each executive for the Administrative Succession.

At the same time I can help people to find a job where they develop all their skills and offer their work to a company and be productive.

 MARIO ALBERTO ORTIZ MARTINEZ

I am Mario Ortiz, I am 25 years old and I am married with an excellent woman, Marisela. Mary and I got married in September 4th 2004. This has been the best in my whole life. With her I have learnt to be a better person.

I consider myself as a passionate person. I really enjoy to live and to learn from different people and experiences. I think that because of this I decided to study Psychology and then some specializations in Human Resources, Organizational Development and Psychometric topics.

I started working when I was 19 years old, as a recruiter assistant in Opentec an IT Company; this was my first experience formally working.  My gratefulness with the owner of this company is present every year, because he gave me an opportunity to start a career in human resources and to develop my interest in organization and leadership aspects.

My next step was creating a company with my parents and my wife with the savings we had. During this process I was chosen as General Coordinator, in this role I pretended to institutionalize our business. And I could do the first sales without any commercial experience.  We couldn’t do it so well.  But now I know that we could do it better if we could understand the organization cycle and change interventions.

Until September 1999, I started working for CEMEX in different HR positions. CEMEX becomes my biggest school until now. Here I am able to handle a lot of topics related to people and business issues. My current position is called Human Capital Assessor. And I am in charged of helping the ready mix concrete business to increase its margins by handling EHS, Training and Development, Talent Managing and Labor issues.

One of my purposes is to be a professional able to manage change intervention in organizations and helping them to increase their efficiency. I know that with the MOD at UDEM  I have made a solid step in this challenge.

I am very happy to be part of ELEVENFIAT, my OD group at UDEM. Together we decided to become OD practitioners and to learn more about leadership and change topics. And to integrate a group that believe in the strength of the team and communication.

I am very proud of having the opportunity to know people as you. And I won’t lose the time for learning from you.

When we could go to Pepperdine I saw my next professional step. Yes I know. ¡Despacio que llevo prisa!

I will not forget one of my preferred life moments. I really enjoy singing and watching movies, specially the ones that give me a life message. And you know? I consider the 49ers the best football team in the history of this spectacular game. I consider the best football player Joe Montana.

Lorena Garza Rodríguez

My name is Lorena Garza and I am 28 years old. I studied International Marketing at the Universidad de Monterrey. I am married and I am a mother of a 2-years-old child, and I am pregnant of my second baby.

As soon as I finished my professional studies I worked in CINTERMEX, the International Exposition and Convention Center in Monterrey, as responsible of the Public Relations Department. After some months, I became coordinator of the Communications Department where I was in charge of the edition of the CINTERMEX Magazine. After two years, I was invited to work at UDEM in the Development Department, as Chief of the Annual Fundraising Campaigns Department, where I coordinated the fundraising campaigns aimed to alumni, parents and students of the University.

When my baby was born and because of some circumstances that presented to me in that time I had to make an important decision, and that one was to take a part time job, so I could be able to be more time with my baby; that is why right now I am teaching support classes for children in my house. Nevertheless, I decided that this was the time to enter to the Masters Degree Program of Organization Development, in first place because it was something that I had been wanting for a long time, and second, because in the future I want to work in a formal job again and I want to be more prepared, particularly in the OD area, which I am sure it is very useful in the non-profit sector in which I am interested.
