PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This web site will serve as your guide in completing your class project.

GROUPS

The project will be done as a group activity. You will divide yourself into groups of 3 individuals.  Ideally, all group members will be from the same lab section!!

PROJECT

For the project, you will conduct a biomechanics-based research project.   The general research topic for the course lab project will be determined by the course instructor.  From this general topic, each group will develop a specific research question.  Collectively, you will:

1. Select the topic for the class projects
2. Develop your specific research hypothesis(es)
3. Find references to previous works in the literature
4. Develop the methodology necessary to collect the data
5. Recruit subjects
6. Collect the data
7. Obtain "good"' 3D coordinate and force plate data as needed for all subjects

Once you have the necessary "raw" data, each group will work independently to:

1. Calculate and compute the biomechanical data needed to address your specific research hypothesis(es)
2. Graph and display the biomechanical data
3. Interpret the biomechanical data
4. Prepare the paper
5. Present the data

POSTER PRESENTATION

The main product from the project will be a poster that presents the results of your study.  You should carefully review and follow the guidelines presented here (page is forthcoming) for the poster.

The poster will consist of the following sections.

1. An brief introduction/review of literature to your study.

2. Description of the methodology used to perform the study.

3. Presentation of the results with figures and tables.

4. Discussion of the results of your study.

5. Conclusions

6. References

The Paper and Abstract are due on 4/9/2008 @ 4:00 p.m.

GRADING

See the course syllabus for grading details.

LATE PENALTIES

The following penalties will be assessed if the paper and abstract are turned in after 4:00 pm on 4/9/08.
