Sociology 200:Sociological
Inquiry Assignement
The only written assignment in this class is the Sociological
Inquiry Assignment. Details and due dates are discussed in the
syllabus. The key to writing a good inquiry is (1) coming up with a
good illustration/example and (2) making sure you make specific and
detailed connections to course content. Sometimes students do a good
job of summarizing what is in the text, for example, but do not
connect that summary to an observation they have made. Other times,
students tell a great story, but fail to connect the story to course
materials.
You should have at least one citation/reference in the inquiry. Most
often that source will be our text (Stark, 2004), but I encourage
you to find outside information as well. Listed below are several examples that should help you
